The combination of tower defense and hack-n-slash works fairly well together, though the classes are completely unbalanced. Melee is by far the easiest.

Orcs Must Die! [Steam store page]
While not co-op like the sequel, this game has an excellent sense of humor and decently balanced maps. Too bad the humor didn't carry over to Orcs Must Die! 2

Orcs Must Die! 2 [Steam store page]
They added co-op, but lost some of the humor that made Orcs Must Die! so fun. Similar gameplay, with more expansive levels to challenge two players.

The art is bright and fun, but the narrator really makes this game fantastic - narrating every move as you shoot and smash your way through the story.

Costume Quest 2 [Steam store page]
Better environments than CQ1, with the same great characters. The first level is the only bad part, so suffering through that small grind is worth it.

For me this game fell somewhere between Legend of Grimrock and Legend of Grimrock 2 - not quite as good as the open-world of the second game, but Vaporum's voice acting made it more of an engaging experience than the original Grimrock.

Trine 2: Complete Story [Steam store page]
I didn't enjoy this nearly as much as Trine - it felt like less of a puzzle game and a lot more platformer. The wizard's triangle is gone, and all the characters swim the same now.

The casting system is reasonably intuitive, and the gameplay itself is as fun as Torchlight, though the heavy corridor feel of the levels detracts a bit. There is a smattering of story and humor throughout, but I wouldn't call it story-driven.

A point and click with an ethereal feel, but not as high quality as Machinarium. It's fairly easy to get stuck, and there isn't a hint button - which leaves you hunting for random clickable items.

Fairly fun indie game, though I wish the Princess Rush game mode didn't allow players to steal from each other - it changes the tone a bit. Aside from that it's a surprisingly difficult, yet enjoyable play. Does suffer from some crashing issues.

A truly great puzzle platformer! Fun yet relaxing, this game has good graphics and three different characters - each with unique abilities. You can switch characters at any time using number keys, using their abilities to progress through the level

Touted as good hand-to-hand combat, I was rather disappointed with this game. The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay had far superior melee fighting - Zeno suffers from AI that can hit you from further away, throw things at you, and takes a lot of hits to kill. Frustrating

The controls on this underwater side-scroller are decent, though I wish there was a way to bind songs to a hotkey. A way to quick-save instead of save points within the game would be nice as well.

This is a fun but easy Diablo style dungeon crawler. It features quick travel via portals and spells, as well as a pet to sell items while you continue killing. Additionally there is a shared chest to transfer valuable items between characters
